The Heart Behind the Training
At Mind Over Muzzle, we believe great dog training starts with empathy, communication, and trust- values I've lived every day during my 12+ years as an educator. I'm Tara, the owner and trainer behind Mind Over Muzzle, and my background in special education and behavior deeply informs how I support both dogs and their people.
Dogs have always been a meaningful part of my life, and my passion for working with them runs just as deep as my commitment to helping others. I'm proud to be certified to evaluate dogs for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title, the AKC STAR Puppy title, and for a therapy dog title through Therapy Dogs United.
As the founder of a successful therapy dog reading program at a local elementary school here in Southwest Florida, I've seen firsthand how dogs can change lives- especially when trained with patience and purpose. Whether you're starting with a new puppy, a new to you pup (rescue), or advancing your dog's skills, I'm here to guide both ends of the leash toward a fulfilling relationship built on mutual understanding and clear communication.
